DXLog Contest Software with Remote Rig 1258 MK II Units
This same approach will probably work with other logging software such as N1MM+. The station is 10km / 6 miles away from my home, remote controlled using Remote Rig RC 1258 Mk II units. This article describes how I configure DXLog contest software at home with CAT and Winkey connections.
Some remote stations run their logging software on a PC at the radio site and use remote-desktop software to access it. In my case, I run the software at the control side so it is local to me, the operator. The first two screen shots show the configuration in the control side RRC unit:
On the home PC where I run DXLog, I have installed the Microbit virtual serial ports. These appear in my Windows Device Manager as follows:

Due to an unknown bug with Winkey somewhere, for CW keying I run a serial port splitter from the COMExtra port to COM10 (the Com port number is arbitrary). This is simply a work-around, the bug hasn't been found.
The port's properties are set up as below. Without these RTS/DTR settings I get a PTT hang on the radio when VSPE is started.

The above settings allow me to run DXLog at home over a remote link with reliable CW and CAT connections.
