National Field Day 2003

After getting back into the hobby in 2000, I bumped into local CW operator Dennis/G3KKQ at the RSGB convention in 2001. In those days the convention was held at Beaumont, an ICL building near Windor.

Dennis was a member of the Echelford Amateur Radio Society (EARS) and invited me along to join the Society and take part in their RSGB National Field Day team. The first time I took part was in 2002 when we came first the the ‘Low Power’ (QRP) section of the contest – I seem to recall that Dennis and I were the only operators.

The pictures below are from the following year, our 2003 entry where I was the only operator as Dennis was away in the Isle of White. The team are located on the field of a rugby club near Chertsey, Surrey.
