2018-April: Visit to 8-square 160m station in Arizona

This is the most incredible 160m station I have ever seen, out in the desert in Safford, Arizona. It is a remote station that Milt, N5IA (SK), designed using an 8-Circle of full-sized 160m quarter wave verticals over an extensive radial field plus eight bi-directional Beverage receive antennas. There are few Top Band stations like it in the ham world. There is also a full-sized 80m 4-Square antenna , dual band 30/40m 4-Square, 20m 4-Square, Force 12 C-19XR triband yagi, and a Force 12 6M7JHV 6m yagi @ 100’.

Station equipment consists of an Elecraft K3 and SPE Expert 2K-FA amplifier for station #1 and a K3 and SPE Expert 1K-FA amplifier for station #2, all hosted in an old school bus. Antenna switching is done using Green Heron Everywhere software and base units plus custom designed control boards. The stations are controlled remotely using Microbit RRC-1258 units and VNC Viewer and is often used by Ned AA7A, Lee KY7M, and Fred NA2U. Thanks to Ned and Lee for taking me there.
